October 5, 2018

Dear Family,
What a great week so far!  The kids have been rocking our new iPads that we have in our class.  We have learned a new app called Epic!  The kids are LOVING it!

Thank you to everyone for signing up for a conference time!  I am looking forward to meeting with all of you and bragging about your kiddos.

Next Week...
Math: Students will be using turn around facts to help them with counting on strategy. Missing addends will be continued with part-part-whole. Students will be using part-part-whole mats to model their thinking and strategies.

Science: This week students will continue identifying forms of energy and discussing the importance of energy in everyday life.  We will specifically observe and discuss thermal energy.  It is a type of energy we can feel.

Reading:  Students will learn how to make a text to world connections while they are reading. They will be able to tell how events in the story are similar to things happening in the real world.

Writing:  Students will continue writing their personal narratives in week three of this five week unit. This week the focus is using speech bubbles, writing what characters said, and describing the characters and setting using adjectives.

Balanced Literacy: Students will be learning about calendars and dates. In Phonics, students will be working on identifying the first and last letters in a word in continuous text and recognizing distinctive features of letter forms.
